Traam Update: How are we evolving?
We’re sharing an update so you can get to know a bit more about our little secrets.
8 mins

To mark the celebration of Easter in Spain, this blog post mixes up our usual programming.
Although the main reason for creating this blog has always been to share our knowledge on relevant, thorny or uncertain matters relating to immigration regulations and the situations foreigners may encounter in Spain, today we want to tell you a bit more about us. This way, we can give you an overview of how Traam is evolving, which services we have launched, which ones we are developing, who is behind the screen, and more.. So here we go!
We started this journey several months ago, and although it is not easy and requires a great deal of effort, discipline and consistency, we are beginning to reap the rewards of what we have sown so far.
But, let us start at the beginning.
👫 Who are Traam’s co-founders?
To give you a little context - in case you missed our first blog post titled “Who are we? An introduction to Traam” -, which of course we invite you to take a look at, here is a brief summary.
🇨🇴/🇲🇽/🇪🇸 Andrés: A Colombian who lived in Mexico and has travelled and lived across half the world. At 19, he emigrated to Spain to study for his degree and, after many bureaucratic processes to renew his permits, he acquired Spanish nationality. With a profile focused on business, product and digital development, Andrés wanted to launch a venture by creating the platform that, as a migrant, he had always wished existed. In 2024, he began to shape Traam.
🇪🇸 Helena: Yours truly, behind the weekly blogs. Spanish and very Catalan, a lawyer by profession and a lover of culture, travel and languages. She was always drawn to immigration law and began by offering these services to her client portfolio. Barcelona, her home city, is increasingly becoming an internationally recognised city, and she is personally convinced that applying technology to this traditional sector will revolutionise it, representing a great opportunity to improve the experience of people who decide to relocate.
👀 If by now you are curious to put a face to the names, visit the About Us section of the website! There you will find a little more about our story, together with our own caricatures.
Now, a bit of trivia about the company, us, and the service we want to offer…
🚋 Where does the name “Traam” come from?
Traam has both a literal and a figurative meaning. Literally, Traam refers to the word “procedure” ("trámite" in Spanish), adding the double "a" to distinguish ourselves from the Barcelona tram (which, in Catalan, is “tram”) and to communicate the more technological touch of our business. The figurative meaning (which we love!) is that "we take you from point A to point B", exactly like a tram; we serve as the vehicle that helps you reach your goals, navigating the maze that immigration can be.
🏁 How did it all begin?
This story is brilliant. We met at a bachelorette party for a mutual friend. It was a huge coincidence; Helena joined the plan at the last minute and by chance. She arrived at the country house in Girona where they were spending the weekend, and found Andrés in the kitchen chopping an onion; they introduced themselves and shortly afterwards started talking about Traam. The rest is history.
After discussing the business idea in that kitchen, there was a connection that led her to take the final step and explore whether they could complement each other, each with their own knowledge and skills, in this business idea. After meeting at a café in Barcelona, confirmation came weeks later, in the middle of August. So they called each other, and Andrés expressed his full confidence in the project and the team, officially beginning the journey between Helena and him.
🤹 The team: There are only two of us (but we are worth a hundred!)
As of today, we work together to achieve our goals, although we do not want to mislead you either: we have a network of contacts and information sources that save us from any tight spot. However, as an example of how the "behind the scenes" works in our dynamic: Helena is the one who writes this blog for all of you, gathering the information and putting it down in an organised way, while Andrés is in charge of refining it, formatting it and handling the tasks needed to upload it to the website in Spanish and English. Teamwork at its best!
🛠️ What have we done so far?
We have managed to develop the core of our product: the platform through which we provide the service. Andrés, working on the technical and product design side, and Helena, consolidating legal texts and defining the necessary requirements, have designed a user experience and workflows so that you can manage your application completely independently, but with the same guarantees provided by a lawyer, from the moment you enter the website until you receive the decision on your application.
💻 What does using the platform involve?
We have designed a true digital journey intended to make your life much easier. Everything starts on our website, where we share valuable informational content to resolve your initial doubts. From there, the process flows naturally:
👤 Free client area: Through the "Client Access" button, you can create an account at no cost. There you will find all the procedures we currently offer.
✅ Procedure requests: Before you pay anything, we offer a short free request form to confirm whether you meet the basic requirements for the procedure you have selected. This allows us to offer you our service guarantee.
💳 Transparent payment: If you are eligible for the relevant procedure, the payment gateway will be enabled so you can pay for the service together with the administrative fee, if applicable. We provide several payment methods so that you can choose the one that is most convenient for you.
📝 Your digital file: Once the procedure is opened, we will ask for your basic personal details to understand your situation, set up your file and know exactly what your case will require. We will provide clear and precise instructions so that you know how to obtain and upload each document required for your specific situation to the platform.
🔍 Expert review: As you upload everything, our team thoroughly reviews the documentation to ensure it is perfect. If anything is missing or there is an error, we will contact you to explain what to do and how to fix it.
🏛️ Official submission: Once everything is in order, we take care of paying the fee on your behalf and submitting your application electronically to the relevant Immigration Office.
🫱🏼🫲🏾 Continuous support: We will keep you informed of all updates, news or communications. In addition, if the Administration sends any further request, we take care of responding and completing your file from start to finish.

💡 If you have any suggestion about possible services you would need or would like us to offer, we are all ears! We love designing Traam’s service based on your real experiences. You can write to us at info@traam.app or by using the contact form on our website.
📈 How is the service evolving?
We are happy! We already have our first clients who trust Traam, which is fantastic for us to keep refining our service. At a technical and legal level, we are absolutely certain of the quality of the services we offer. However, our biggest challenge (and our greatest motivation!) is to go one step further by validating the real user experience.
We work every day to ensure that:
The platform is 100% intuitive and functional, resolving IT and interface/user experience issues.
Anyone can manage their procedure independently and entirely online, without stress.
The instructions and guides for collecting documents are crystal clear.
Ultimately, our main goal is to prove that technology allows us to provide a better service than a traditional law firm, at a much more competitive price, ensuring our clients obtain their residence permits and authorisations and are fully satisfied with the journey—and if, in addition, they recommend us, we will know we are on the right path.
💬 What if I have questions?
🧑🏻💻 Can I contact you if I get stuck with the platform?
Of course! Here, we are talking about technical questions and questions about the Traam service. On our website, you will find a floating button at the bottom right that says "Contact Us". Click there to ask us any question about how the website works, what the service includes, how we manage it, how quickly we can resolve your file; you can even request a different service from those we currently offer, and we will reply.
👩🏻⚖️ What if I have questions about a document needed for my procedure?
We help with that too! Here, we are talking about legal questions regarding procedures and their requirements. The system is designed so that, by answering a few simple questions, you obtain your personalised list of documents together with detailed instructions to obtain and upload them. However, we know paperwork can be confusing. That is why, within each section of your file, you will have the option to ask us directly any technical or legal question that arises at that moment.
We encourage you to open a free account and have a look for yourself. 🚀
